Try to brush across the perpendicular on long forms. Horizontal on the trunk and path.
The grass feels a bit lemony; considering the wet summer we had it probably was a different green. Greens are difficult. A number of great painters kept a large number of greens ready in addition to those they would mix from their palettes.
Certain trees really use fluid brush strokes to represent their leaf patterns, but most deciduous trees don't. Try blocking in the shadow (thinly, of course), and use stabbing or sharp flicks with the brushthe hit the highlights and midtones. Most detail is visible between the bright and shadowed elements, so that's where careful brushwork pays off the most.
In many ways, you seem to be approaching this alla prima painting much like a watercolour.
